With the benefit of hindsight, what role does new media play in artistic practices, activism, and as an agent for social change in the Middle East and North Africa today?

was born in Assiut, Egypt, in 1977 and currently lives and works in Basel, Switzerland and Cairo. Magdy works with different media including drawing, painting, film, installation, animation, sculpture, video, sound and printed matter. He is particularly interested in constructing narrative structures that explore the space between reality and fiction and its contribution to science, history, global culture and the dissemination of knowledge.
