Attack on the National Museum of Bardo – Culture against Terrorism.
The Kamel Lazaar Foundation offers its unequivocal support to the National Museum of Bardo, Tunis, and denounces the act of terrorism that targeted it on Wednesday, 18 March 2015.
We also want to express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims of this heinous act and to the governments whose citizens were killed in the attack.
The attack on the National Museum of Bardo was designed to undermine the nascent democratic model of Tunisia, the country's economy, the voice of its people, and the vibrant culture of the region by targeting innocent people in a museum renowned for its outstanding mosaic collections and exceptional works of art.
This attack will not succeed in achieving those goals.
The Foundation remains committed to the National Museum of Bardo and will continue organizing and supporting cultural and artistic events at the museum, as we did in 2013 and 2014 with Jaou-Tunis, and more recently through our support for the Klee, Macke, Moilliet exhibition in 2014.
Furthermore, the Foundation is dedicated to the implementation of an artistic policy and cultural forum that will counter the violent forms of obscurantism that we see across the region. We therefore resolutely promise to redouble our support for cultural platforms where diverse voices and peoples can come together to prepare for our country's future and that of the region as a whole.
In the spirit of this, we are pleased to also reconfirm that Jaou-Tunis will take place at the National Museum of Bardo from May 28–31, 2015, with support from the Foundation and its initiatives, including Ibraaz Publishing (www.ibraaz.org).
We would also call upon the international arts community to join us in condemning the attack at the National Museum of Bardo and join us in May for Jaou-Tunis. The Foundation will endeavor to find a way to accommodate as many participants as possible for the Jaou-Tunis conference and affiliated events so as to ensure global debates can be had about how culture can and will prevail in the face of extremism, violence and indiscriminate killing.

Attaque au Musée National du Bardo – La culture contre le terrorisme
La Fondation Kamel Lazaar apporte son soutien inconditionnel au Musée National du Bardo de Tunis et dénonce l'attaque terroriste qui l'a visé le mercredi 18 mars 2015.
Nous exprimons nos sincères condoléances aux familles des victimes de cet acte odieux et aux gouvernements dont les citoyens ont été tués dans cette attaque.
L'attaque du Musée National du Bardo avait comme objectif de détruire le modèle démocratique naissant de la Tunisie, l'économie du pays, la voix de son peuple, et l'ardente culture de la région en prenant pour cible des innocents dans un musée renommé pour ces remarquables collections de mosaïques et ses œuvres archéologiques exceptionnelles.
Cette attaque n'atteindra pas ses objectifs.
La Fondation reste engagée auprès du Musée National du Bardo et continuera à organiser et soutenir des événements culturels et artistiques au Musée, comme elle l'avait fait en 2013 et 2014 avec Jaou-Tunis, et plus récemment avec son soutien à l'exposition «Klee, Macke, Moilliet».
En outre, la Fondation se consacre à la mise en place d'un forum sur une politique artistique et culturelle pour contrer les formes violentes de l'obscurantisme que nous voyons à travers la région. Elle s'engage donc avec force à redoubler son soutien aux plates-formes culturelles où la diversité des voix et des peuples peuvent se retrouver pour préparer l'avenir de notre pays et celui de la région toute entière.
Dans cet esprit, la Fondation a le plaisir de confirmer de nouveau que Jaou-Tunis aura lieu au Musée National du Bardo du 28 au 31 mai 2015 avec le soutien de Ibraaz Publishing (www.ibraaz.org).
Nous aimerions également faire appel à la communauté artistique internationale à se joindre à nous pour condamner l'attaque au Musée national du Bardo et pour Jaou - Tunis en mai. La Fondation s'efforcera de trouver un moyen d'accueillir autant de participants que possible pour la conférence Jaou-Tunis et les événements affiliés afin d'assurer que des débats internationaux peuvent avoir lieu sur la façon dont la culture peut et doit prévaloir face à l'extrémisme, la violence et au terrorisme.

الهجوم على المتحف الوطني بباردو – الثقافة ضد الإرهاب
تدين مؤسسة كمال الازعر الهجوم الإرهابي الذي استهدف المتحف الوطني بباردو يوم الأربعاء 18 مارس 2015 وتقدم له دعمها المطلق.
وتعرب المؤسسة عن خالص تعازيها لأسر ضحايا هذا العمل الشنيع والحكومات التي قتل مواطنوها في الهجوم.
وقد نُظم هذا الهجوم لتقويض النموذج الناشئ للديمقراطية في تونس واقتصاد البلاد وصوت شعبها وثقافتها النابضة بالحياة من خلال استهداف الأبرياء في متحف اشتهر بمجموعاته الاثرية الاستثنائية من فسيفساء وغيرها من القطع النادرة.
الا ان هذا الهجوم لن ينجح في تحقيق تلك الأهداف.
ولا تزال المؤسسة ملتزمة بدعم المتحف الوطني بباردو وستواصل تنظيم مختلف الفعاليات الثقافية والفنية فيه مثل جو تونس في عامي 2013 و2014، ومؤخرا معرض «كلي، ماكي، مواليي».
وعلاوة على ذلك، تعمل المؤسسة على تكريس سياسة فنية ومنتدى ثقافي لمواجهة مختلف أشكال العنف والظلامية التي نراها في جميع أنحاء المنطقة. وتعد بكل حزم على مضاعفة دعمها للمنابر الثقافية حيث يتاح لمختلف الأصوات والاشخاص ان تلتقي لإعداد مستقبل بلدنا والمنطقة ككل.
و في هذا السياق يسر مؤسسة كمال الازعر ان تأكد عن تنظيم تظاهرة جو تونس 2015 بالمتحف الوطني بباردو ايام 28، 29 ،30 و31 من شهر ماي بدعم من مؤسسة كمال الازعر ومبادراتها، بما في ذلك إبراز للنشر (www.ibraaz.org).
كما تدعو مؤسسة كمال الازعر المجتمع الدولي للفنون إلى مساندتها في إدانة الهجوم الذي استهدف المتحف الوطني بباردو والانضمام الى جو تونس في ماي - ايار - المقبل٠ وستسعى المؤسسة الى ايجاد وسيلة لاستيعاب أكبر عدد ممكن من المشاركين في هذا الملتقى وما يتبعه من فعاليات وذلك لضمان نقاشات شاملة حول كيفية مواجهة التطرف والعنف والارهاب بالثقافة.
